sometimes you may feel tired from all the attractions, activities and touristic objects surrounding you in a big city… you may find yourself wondering where you can simply take a glass of red wine with tapas, relax and enjoy a good movie.. if you recognize yourself reading these lines then you´ve come to the right place. in this article we´ll guide you through some outdoor cinema options in the capital for a perfect calm end of a long and stressful day.

the most extensive open-air cinema program in madrid is prepared by fescinal, which also happens to celebrate its 30 year anniversary this year.

situated in parque de la bombilla, this summer cinema not only gives you the feeling of being in an old american movie but also lets you enjoy both the good old classics like kubrick´s “the clockwork orange” and new classics like sorrentino´s “la grande bellezza” (“the great beauty”).

for the smallest viewers the organizers have prepared a children program with animated movies like “frozen” and “how to train your dragon 2”.

all movies start at 22.15 and the cinema will be open until the end of september. all that is left for you to do is to drive-in or simply take a seat and enjoy the movie.

another great option right in the very heart of the city is the cinema in plaza de cibeles (cibeles palace), the site of city hall and cultural space centrocentro.

in addition to the movies this pop-up cinema offers a wide range of different activities and means of socializing, such as expositions, pop-up stores, finger food and bar, DJs and summer terrace open until 2am.

the cinema will be open until 31st august and the program can be found here: www.thecinema.es/

finally, we also recommend the freshly opened pop-up summer cinema el cuartel by city lights, located in centro cultural conde duque.

the cinema will also be accompanied with a gastro terrace with the menu prepared by the chefs albert adriá, andoni luis aduriz, ramon freixa and paco pérez del miramar (who altogether happen to share 11 michelin stars); and shopping space with well-known fashion labels.

this cinema will bring joy to all your senses until 14th september. the full program can be seen here: www.cinedeveranocondeduque.reservaentradas.com/cgi-vel/cineverano
