hot summer in spain – madrid or barcelona, what can be better?

enjoy warm sea and cosmopolitan city of catalonia or walk through the emblematic sunny streets of madrid.

however when it gets too hot, better to put on sun cream and panama hat, or  hide from the heat in some cool place, to avoid catching a sun strike.

spanish seaside beauty

spain is considered to be one of the most popular summer destinations. among its cosmopolite and authencity, cultural, historical and gastronomical richness, lies undoubtfull and strong advantage of its unique natural and biodiversity along with the geographical characteristics. lied by atlantic and maditerranean seas, spain has some the most precious coasts in the world – in costa dorada and costa del sol, asturias, galicia, costa blanca, costa verde and costa vasco, baleares &  canaries.. moreover, high number of spanish beaches are awarded with the blue flag voluntary eco label, what guaranties water quality, environmental management and safety of the beaches.

fresh breath of air you can take when discover some less known spots like secluded coves and beaches, where on your own or with friends and family you can enjoy breathtaking natural landscapes and clean warm waters without being interrupted by the loud crowd. here are some of them:

playa de rodas, islas cies, galicia

by taking a ferry trip (approx. 40 min) from vigo or barcelona you can reach islas cies – a spectacular and picturescue playa de rodas beach, where calm and crystal water makes perfect conditions for snorkeling or relaxing off the populated places.

not far from the asturian village cudillero you will find playa de silencio, quiet sand-and-stone beach in beautiful secluded cove.

this natural beach is located in marvelous cove between cliffs of costa brava. it is not very secluded, but still much more quiet than other beaches of this area and is an ideal choice to go with family or friends if you are staying in begur or girona.

tiny and unspoiled beach of das raias in the northwest spain, close to muxia town, offers amazing natural surroundings along with the white sand and clean calm water.

flamenco venues

what are the origins of flamenco performances that nowadays you can enjoy all over spain? – let’s have a deeper look..

unesco in 2010 has  declared flamenco an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and described as “..  an artistic expression fusing song (“cante”), dance (“baile”) and musicianship (“toque”)”.

routes of this art originally come from gypsy styles of andalusia, but through the centuries  andalusian styles have been mixed with other techniques coming from murcia and extremadura.

flamenco started being professionally performed for public since the XIX century and from that time performances have not change much(dancer accompanied by the song and guitar play).

nowadays most popular places to enjoy the flamenco are “tablaos” (from the spanish floorboard). in ¨tablaos¨ you can see professional dancers showing their passionate art.

central flamenco cities with the oldest establishments and well-known artists regularly performing for the public are madrid, barcelona and sevilla.

in madrid you will have a great opportunity to enjoy flamenco in the world-known corral de la moreira. corral de la moreira, counting its history of more than 50 years,  is included in a book “1,000 places to see before you die”, and it is definitely not a tall talk.

in corral de la moreira you will find authentic spanish music, dance, traditional cuisine and a list of celebrities, that have visited this place.

whenever you are travelling through barcelona, tablao cordobes is a “must” to visit among the other city gems. tablao cordobes is a small café-like place with the dining room next to the show stage, presents a perfect place to appreciate flamenco in an intimate atmosphere.

this place, opened for public in 1970 has gained international recognition.

and sevilla – the “golden city”, also has something to show on this authentic route. casa de la memoria(¨house of memory¨) – you will not get a traditional dinner in this place, but explore flamenco in its purest representation.

the performance  is settled in XVIII century andalucian palace. Moreover casa de la memoria offers to attend a large historical exhibition settled on its ground floor.
